Cody Dunn, a first-year Biomedical Engineering PhD candidate in the MTI lab, received a Cardiovascular Applied Research and Entrepreneurship (CARE) training fellowship from the Edwards Lifesciences Center for Advanced Cardiovascular Technology. This NIH-funded award will support Cody’s next two years of research on development and application of functional optical technologies to study problems associated with the cardiovascular system. Congratulations Cody!
Congratulations to 2017 E-SURP awardees Thinh Phan and Adrian Bahani!
Thinh, a rising senior BME-Premed student, and Adrian, a rising junior BME student, each received a summer research fellowship from the UCI Edwards Lifesciences Center for Advanced Cardiovascular Technology and the UCI Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program. Congratulations Thinh and Adrian!
Two manuscripts accepted for publication to biophotonics journals
A manuscript by Caitlin Regan, a current PhD student and Roche/ARCS Scholar in the MTI lab, was accepted for publication in Journal of Biomedical Optics. Caitlin’s manuscript describes the design, characterization, and application of a miniaturized laser speckle imaging device to monitor blood-flow dynamics in the mouth. This work is a collaborative effort with Petra Wilder-Smith’s group at Beckman Laser Institute. MTI lab researchers Sean White (postdoctoral fellow) and Bruce Yang (research specialist) contributed to this effort. Congratulations Caitlin, Sean and Bruce!
A manuscript by Christian Crouzet, a current PhD student and NSF Graduate Research Fellow in the MTI lab, was accepted for publication in Biomedical Optics Express. Christian’s manuscript describes application of laser speckle imaging and electrophysiological measurements collected from the brain during cardiac arrest and resuscitation. This work is a collaborative effort with Yama Akbari’s group in the Neurology department at UCI and Bruce Tromberg’s group at Beckman Laser Institute. Congratulations Christian!
